Movement Design Research, or MDR started back in 2018 when I was still living in NYC. I was looking for a way to combine my interests in design and movement from a research oriented lens. What came out was at first a spatial design project which turned into a 3 day pop up gallery event and now a research in making and moving sustainable, often slowly. All of our cut and sews are made at home, here in Copenhagen Denmark from natural materials. I strive to use organic fibers when possible or purchase 2nd choice or remnant fabrics, that would have otherwise gotten discarded. Each item is designed with durability and repair in mind. It is through the philosophy that what we make, should be worn... out - as in move in them(!), and build an intimate relationship to the item. When you wear something, you co-create the next iteration of the product - that's the patina, the wear and tear that's unique to the ways you move through the world.
